  • 🎒 Packing list for your fasting cure at the Hotel Quellenhof
We have put together a small packing list for your stay so that you can feel completely at ease and relax in the best possible way.

    Clothing & footwear
As the body sometimes gets cold more quickly when fasting, the „onion look“ is ideal - even in summer:
    • Warm clothing: Be sure to take a warm sweater, fleece jacket or scarf with you, even in the warmer months.
    • Weatherproof clothing: Regardless of the season, a rain jacket and weatherproof pants are important for our daily hikes.
    • Comfortable clothing: Loose, comfortable clothing for the time in the hotel and during the relaxation exercises.
    • Footwear:
      • Sturdy hiking or outdoor shoes (if available).
      • Bathing slippers for the spa.
      • Slippers for the hotel.

    For health & well-being
    • Drinking bottle: For the daily drinking cure and flavored water, it is advantageous to have your own bottle (can also be purchased at the hotel).
    • Swimwear: For a visit to the Vulkaneifel Therme.
    • Medication: Your personal medication and - if required - a blood pressure monitor.
    • Important note: Bad Bertrich no longer has a pharmacy. Use the delivery service of the pharmacy in Bullay or bring everything you need with you.
    • Irrigator: If you have one, you are welcome to bring it with you (also available at the hotel).
    • Salts for foot baths: Our rooms are equipped with foot baths. A few relaxing salts are a good idea (also available from us).

    Miscellaneous & Extras
    • Personal comfort: If you have space in the car, your own pillow is often worth its weight in gold.
    • Relaxation: A good book (which may not be to is exciting)
    • Bathrobe & sauna towels:
      • Can be borrowed from the hotel for a fee (bathrobe € 7.50 / sauna towel € 5).
      • You are also welcome to bring your own.
🌿 Your optimal preparation: how to start your fasting cure in a relaxed manner
One of the most frequently asked questions is: „What is the best way to prepare?“
It's actually quite simple. Here are our expert tips to help your body make the transition to fasting gently and without any major side effects:
1. gentle renunciation of stimulants
We recommend that you already 5 to 7 days before the start of the course the consumption of Alcohol and coffee adjust. Avoiding coffee is particularly important: this way you avoid typical caffeine withdrawal symptoms such as headaches, which could otherwise overshadow the start of your cure.
2. „Relief days“ with light food
Switch to a light diet in the week before the cure. A vegetarian diet with a high vegetable content is ideal.
  • Our tip: Take time to prepare your meals and consciously enjoy them at set times.
3. drink enough
Get your body used to a high fluid intake in advance. Drink plenty of still water and unsweetened herbal teas.
4. your arrival day (Sunday)
Please also eat something light on the day of your arrival. A trip to Bad Bertrich can be exhausting and we want you to arrive safely.
  • Welcome meal: On Sunday evening, a freshly prepared vegetable soup awaits you at the hotel as a gentle introduction.
Conclusion: There is nothing more to consider in advance. Fasting is often easier than you imagine - we will guide you step by step!
🏰 Our house: historical charm meets well-being
You reside in a former monastery from the turn of the century (built 1898-1900), which today offers modern comfort in a historic ambience. Our rooms are your personal retreat and are equipped with:
  • Shower/WC, hairdryer & flat-screen TV
  • Free WLAN
  • Your own tea station (kettle, various types of tea & mineral water)
  • Fasting extras: A hot water bottle, a foot bath and additional towels are already available in your room for your treatments.
Good to know:
As our hotel is a historical monument, we are unfortunately not barrier-free (the showers have a small access step). For our popular balcony rooms, the principle applies: „Whoever books first enjoys the best view!“
Our garden on the Üsbach:
Located directly by the stream, an oasis of tranquillity awaits you. Whether on our loungers, benches or chairs - here you can unwind after an active day, meditate and enjoy pure nature.

🌿 Bad Bertrich: a gem between the Eifel and Moselle
Bad Bertrich is a real gem on the edge of the Volcanic Eifel. As a guest of our hotel, you will benefit from unique special features:
  • Germany's only Glauber's salt thermal bath: The healing water is available to you for your drinking cure throughout the entire cure.
  • Vulkaneifel Therme: Relax in the extensive sauna park or take part in daily aqua aerobics.
  • Landscape therapy park: The first park of its kind in Europe invites you to take evening strolls along illuminated paths (until 11:00 pm).
  • Hiker's paradise: Kilometers of excellently signposted paths support your fasting process through exercise. I will be happy to accompany you personally or give you insider tips for the most beautiful routes.

✨ Awakener & vitality booster: the Kneipp dry brush massage
The dry brush massage is an integral part of Kneipp's health teachings. It is the perfect morning ritual to gently awaken the circulation, strengthen the immune system and give your skin a healthy glow.

Why dry brushing? Your advantages at a glance:
  • Kickstart the cycle: Blood circulation is stimulated immediately - ideal for an energetic start to the day.
  • Detox & lymph flow: The massage supports the removal of metabolic products through the lymphatic system.
  • Natural peeling: Dead skin cells are gently removed and cell renewal is promoted - for silky smooth skin.
  • Strong defenses: The improved blood circulation actively supports your immune system.
  • Relaxation: The rhythmic movements have a harmonizing effect on the nervous system and reduce stress.

How it works (step-by-step)
The massage only takes 5 to 10 minutes and is best in the morning before showering on dry skin.
  1. The golden rule: We always brush from the outside in (heartward).
  2. Legs: Start at the back of the right foot and work your way up the leg to the hip using gentle, circular movements or long strokes. Then the left leg.
  3. Poor: Start at the back of the right hand and brush up the arm to the shoulder. Then the left side.
  4. Hull: Massage the abdomen and back with gentle movements. On the abdomen, it is advisable to brush clockwise (following the course of the intestine).
  5. Intensity: The pressure should be comfortable. The skin should be slightly rosy, but never irritated or burning.

Mike's pro tip:
After the massage, take a short shower to rinse off the dead skin cells. If you are particularly keen on Kneipp treatments, finish the shower with a cold knee or arm massage!
